SPOILER-FREE METHOD
Contexto Hints
Contexto does not give you a yes or a no. It gives every guess a number, and knowing how to read that number is the whole skill. Use each warm word to choose a better direction without revealing today's answer.
Play ContextoTHE SHORT ANSWER
Contexto hints at a glance
Contexto ranks every submitted word by how closely it appears to the secret word in the game's model of language use. Rank one is the answer. A hint is therefore not only a revealed word: it is also a direction that helps you decide what relationship to test next.
The official game currently includes a Hint command in its menu, which reveals one word. This guide does something different. It explains how to use that word, your own best-ranked guesses, and the gaps between ranks while keeping the final solution hidden.
QUICK REFERENCE
What does a Contexto hint tell you?
Start with the rank, then ask what changed between your guesses. The number is relative to the current puzzle, not a permanent score attached to a word.
| Goal | Find the secret word at semantic rank 1 |
|---|---|
| Feedback | Each submitted word receives a relative rank |
| Official hint | The game menu can reveal one word |
| Guess cost | No Wordle-style fixed attempt limit; the cost is testing an unhelpful direction |
| Today's answer | Not published or mirrored on this page |
READ THE NUMBER
How to read a Contexto rank
A rank is a position in an ordered list, not a score out of ten. If one guess lands at 1,200 and the next lands at 40, that is not a small improvement. You have entered a much warmer neighbourhood of language use. Look for the situation, action, place, or object shared by the new word and the secret topic.
Ranks are relative to the current puzzle. A word at 300 today might be unhelpful tomorrow, so do not memorize a universal “good rank.” Compare your guesses with one another. The direction and size of the movement matter more than any threshold copied from another round.
KEEP THE SOLVE YOURS
Three ways to hint without spoiling the puzzle
Most players alternate between blind guessing and looking up the answer. These three moves create a more useful middle path.
- Sample far apart, not near
Five synonyms test one idea repeatedly. Try a place, animal, tool, feeling, and activity. A large rank improvement identifies the direction worth exploring.
- Narrow by relationship
When a word is warm, test what happens there, who uses it, what object appears beside it, and what action it serves. Context is often more useful than category.
- Use the intersection
If two warm words seem unrelated, imagine one situation that contains both. That shared setting can sit closer to the answer than either word alone.
TRUST THE SURPRISE
Why an unexpected warm word is the best hint
A surprising warm guess is evidence, not a glitch. It means the target shares a context you had not considered: perhaps a location, an activity, a profession, a phrase, or a cultural association. Keep your two or three warmest words visible and search for the situation that connects them instead of arguing with the rank.
This is why “close” does not always mean “synonym.” A place, profession, and object can cluster around one topic without being interchangeable. If a perfect dictionary synonym ranks poorly, the model is signaling that real-world usage matters more than definition.
WHAT THIS PAGE DOES
A method, not today's answer
CasualAtlas does not mirror Contexto's model, word list, daily answer, or archive. This page gives you a reusable method: how to choose exploratory guesses, read changes in rank, use the official hint word, and recover when a promising direction turns cold.
That is deliberate. An answer ends the round; a useful hint changes your next guess. The live ranking and current puzzle remain on the publisher's website.
“Select the option ‘Hint’ and it will reveal one word.”

CHOOSE YOUR LEVEL OF HELP
Contexto hints vs Contexto answers
Both respond to the same stuck moment, but only one leaves the puzzle alive.
| Feature | Hints | Answers |
|---|---|---|
| What you receive | A direction, revealed word, or method for reading ranks | The daily secret word |
| Spoiler level | Low; you continue solving | Complete; the round is over |
| Best for | Players stuck on a semantic direction | Players who have stopped solving |
| Available here | Yes: a reusable rank-reading method | No: CasualAtlas does not publish it |
No daily maintenance required. Nothing on this page claims to be today's word or today's closest-word list, so the guide remains accurate after the puzzle changes.
QUESTIONS, ANSWERED
Contexto hints questions, answered
01Does Contexto give hints?
Yes. The official FAQ says the game menu includes a Hint option that reveals one word. Every rank you receive also helps point toward a more useful semantic direction.
02What does a low rank mean in Contexto?
A lower number means your word is closer to the secret word in the game’s language model. Rank 1 is the answer.
03What is a good rank in Contexto?
There is no fixed threshold that works for every puzzle. Compare your guesses with one another: a jump from 1,200 to 40 matters more than either number in isolation.
04Why did my synonym rank badly?
Contexto compares the situations in which words are used, not only dictionary definitions. A related place, profession, action, or object can rank closer than a synonym.
05Does this page show today’s Contexto answer?
No. CasualAtlas does not mirror the game’s model, daily answer, or answer archive. This page explains how to interpret ranks and choose better guesses.
06Can I still solve Contexto myself while using this page?
Yes. The page teaches a spoiler-free method and never reveals the current secret word.
07How many guesses do I get in Contexto?
The standard puzzle is not limited to a fixed number of attempts like Wordle. The challenge is finding a productive semantic direction.
08What should I do when a strong lead goes cold?
Change the relationship you are testing. If objects are warm, try the activity, place, profession, or product connected with them.
09Is a surprising warm word a mistake?
Treat it as evidence. Two apparently unrelated warm words often point toward a setting, phrase, or situation they share.
